FAQ

What is the YAS! project?

YAS! (Youth for Action and Sustainability) is a European Solidarity Corps (ESC)' project based on the Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs.
The project’s objectives are to educate and inform young people and the local community about SDGs through the implementation of various workshops, public interventions and creative activities.
The project aims to encourage young people to learn and act upon current issues regarding society. One of our objectives is to promote education for sustainable development which is knowledge our volunteers will pass on when organising different events for the society, engaging in solidarity activities and promoting volunteerism.

What are the Sustainable Development Goals?

As defined by the UN, "the Sustainable Development Goals are a call for action by all countries – poor, rich and middle-income – to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. They recognize that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and address a range of social needs including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities, while tackling climate change and environmental protection".

How many SDGs exist?

There are 17 interconnected Sustainable Development Goals. They were adopted by all UN Member States in 2015, as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which set out a 15-year plan to achieve them.
